ME SINGING PEGGY (=DANDY) WITH THE KAST OFF KINKS

In January 2004 I was thinking about proposing to my  girlfriend Peggy Wedding during the 7th Dutch Kinks Fan Meeting in September 2004 (What else can you expect with a name like that?)

I asked John Dalton if I could sing a song with The Kast Off Kinks for this special event and John immediately answered "Yes".

First I thought about Buddy Holly's Peggy Sue (Peggy toe, Peggy toe, 'k ben het lange wachten moe), but Peggy hates that song
and because it's a Kinks-meeting I decided to go for a Kinks-song. Peggy likes the song Dandy and Dandy can easily be changed to Peggy,
so Dandy it should be.

Below you'll find the original songtext and the Dutch sleeve of Dandy and the changed words, the sleeve and an MP3 of Peggy:

mp3 of Peggy

I forgot the opening line of the 2nd verse (maybe I was a bit nervous after all?), so there is some extra "la la la la la" between verse 1 and 2,
and the Dutch lines are not on the MP3 (yet).

Dandy

Dandy, Dandy
Where you gonna go now?
Who you gonna run to?
All your little life
You're chasing all the girls
They can't resist your smile
Ohoh, they long for

Dandy, Dandy
Checking out the ladies
Tickling their fancy
Pouring out your charm
To meet your own demands
And turn it off at will
Ohoh, they long for

Dandy, Dandy
Knocking on the backdoor
Climbing through the window
Hubby's gone away
And while the cat's away
The mice are gonna play
Ohoh, you're low down

Dandy, Dandy
Dandy

Dandy, you know you're moving much too fast
And Dandy, you know you can't escape the past
Look 'round thee and see the people settle down
And when you're old and grey you will remember what I said
That 2 girls are too many, 3's a crowd and 4 you're dead

Oh Dandy, Dandy
When you're gonna give up?
Are you feeling old now?
You always will be free
You need no sympathy
A bachelor you will stay
And Dandy, you're all right
You're all right
You're all right
You're all right
You're all right
You're all right

Peggy

Peggy, Peggy
Nowhere you can go now
Nowhere you can run to
The last years of my life
I'm looking at you, girl
I can't resist your smile
Ohoh, I long for

Peggy, Peggy
You're my little lady
Tickling my fancy
Pouring out your charm
To meet all my demands
And turn it off at will
Ohoh, I long for

Peggy, Peggy
Shall we close the backdoor?
Shall we
blind the window?
Let's just  dream away
And while the kids away
We are gonna play
Ohoh, and lie down

Peggy, Peggy
Peggy

Peggy, you think I'm moving much too fast
But Peggy, I know we can't escape the past
Look 'round, dear, and see our friends have all come 'round
And when they're old and grey they will remember what I said
I love you, Peggy Wedding, let's get wed before we're dead

Oh Peggy, Peggy
I'm not gonna give up
Aren't you feeling young now
You always will be free
And have my sympathy
But a bachelor I won't stay
So Peggy, marry me
Can't you see
You're all for me
I love you
And if you love me too
Just say "I do"

Peggy, Peggy
Wil je met me trouwen
Laat me van je houden
Liefste, wordt mijn vrouw
Want ik hou van jou
En blijf je eeuwig trouw
Oh Peggy, maak me blij
Zeg dat jij
Ook houdt van mij
Trouw met mij
Doe me na
Zeg toch "Ja"

the only picture I've seen so far with ALL FOUR Kast Off Kinks-members and me, wearing my t-shirt with "Peggy"

me on my knees asking Peggy, surrounded by John Dalton, Mick Avory and Dave Clarke

So the motto of the 7th meeting, You really got me (see the background of the first 2 pictures), suddenly got a second meaning for us!
